An ERP platform can bring core processes together, but the value depends on how well it exchanges information with the systems people already use. Integration planning starts with the work, not with a list of APIs.
Start with the business event
Choose a concrete event such as a customer order, supplier invoice or employee change. Trace where the information begins, who verifies it, where it needs to go and which team acts when something is wrong. This reveals duplicate entry and unclear ownership before a connector makes those problems harder to see.
Capture the systems involved and the data each one owns. A customer record, for example, may appear in CRM, finance and a support application. Decide which system is authoritative for each field and when changes should be shared. The goal is a dependable flow, with explicit rules for exceptions.
Design for failures as well as success
Document the trigger, data mapping, validation and expected response for each integration. Then ask what happens when a destination is unavailable, a record is incomplete or two systems disagree. The answer should include retry rules, an alert path and a person responsible for resolving the issue.
Security and access also belong in the design. Give each connection only the access it needs, protect credentials and make the movement of sensitive data visible to the right teams. Agree on a test environment and realistic sample scenarios before production rollout.
Release in a manageable sequence
Prioritise integrations by business impact and dependency. A small, well-defined first flow creates space to verify accuracy and operational support before adding more. Review outcomes with the teams who enter and use the data, not only with the people who built the connection.
Lisosoft can help scope, design, build and support custom connections around ERP environments, including SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, NetSuite, Infor CloudSuite, IFS Cloud, Epicor Kinetic, Sage Intacct and Odoo. Platform access, interfaces and responsibilities are confirmed for each engagement.
